A Maidstone doctor's surgery where a young boy was taken seriously ill yesterday has released a statement about the "major medical incident".
At least three police cars, an ambulance, a paramedic car and a forensics van were spotted outside Albion Place Medical Practice in Sittingbourne Road in the morning.
The air ambulance was also called.
The surgery immediately put a statement on its website saying a "major medical incident" was taking place and announced it would remain closed for the rest of the day.
Yesterday afternoon, an ambulance spokesman confirmed a young boy had been taken ill in the surgery and had been resuscitated before being taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury, for further treatment.
This morning the surgery opened as normal and a new statement on its website said staff, some of whom helped save the boy's life, were thinking of the youngster's family.
The statement said: "The surgery is aware of considerable speculation regarding events that occurred on October 12.
"We wish to clarify that the doctors and surgery paramedic were involved in the resuscitation of a very sick patient.
"We await news of our patient, who was airlifted to Tunbridge Wells Hospital. Our thoughts are with the patient’s family. We ask that people respect that this is a most difficult time for the family involved."
A police spokesman said yesterday that officers were there to assist ambulance staff.
