Kent Police arrest 100 burglary suspects for alleged crimes in West Kent

England’s batsman may be struggling to reach triple figures but the police are having no such problems.

Officers based in West Kent announced the arrest of their 100th suspected burglar on Monday as part of a crackdown on crime which began eight weeks ago.

Many of the suspects several have already been charged or dealt with by the courts while others have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Most shocking is the case of Kenneth Harman who was arrested in Maidstone on Monday, December 2 and charged with burglary and theft.

The 60-year-old of no fixed abode, has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates Court on Christmas Eve after allegedly stealing £800 worth of cash and goods from The Children’s Trust store in Gabriel’s Hill, Maidstone and items worth £70 from the Grange Moor Hotel in St Michael’s Road.

A 17-year-old boy from Sevenoaks was arrested in town the next day and also charged with the Children’s Trust burglary.

Other suspects include 24-year-old Thomas Morgan who was arrested on Wednesday, December 4 and charged with three burglaries at an address in Bell Road, Maidstone.

Morgan, of no fixed abode, is alleged to have broken into a flat and taken items including a duvet, bed cover, disco lights and other electronics.

He remains in custody and will appear at court on Thursday, January 2.

Later that week three people were charged with stealing five packaged Christmas trees from Bedgebury Pinetum in Goudhurst during the early hours of Friday, December 6.

Clark were charged with theft and bailed to appear at court on Friday, January 17.

Matthew Allen, a 25 year-old man, was arrested at his home in Bazalgette Rise in Maidstone on Wednesday, December 4 and charged with a burglary at the Oakwood House Hotel which occurred on Saturday, September 21.

It is alleged he stole a purse and other items including a set of car keys and subsequently a Peugeot 1007 vehicle parked at the venue.

The car has since been recovered and Allen remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance on Friday, December 20.

He is due before Sevenoaks magistrates on Monday, December 23.
