A concerned dad has issued a warning after his 12-year-old daughter was flashed as she made her way to school.

The New Line Learning Academy warned pupils not to walk home alone after a man in a white van allegedly exposed himself to the youngster.

Today, her father spoke to KentOnline in the hope of preventing the same thing happening again.

The dad, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: "She was walking along the road on her way to school when a man in a white van with tinted windows got out the van and dropped his trousers."

The incident happened on Wednesday morning, shortly before 8.30am, when the New Line Learning Academy pupil was walking up Mangravet Avenue, Maidstone. She had taken a bus from Maidstone town centre to the Mangravet Parade.

The girl, from the town, said the offender was mixed-race, clean shaven and about 5ft 8ins.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The school, in Boughton Lane, Loose, sent a text message warning parents to beware.

It advised pupils should not walk home on their own and said extra staff would be on duty at the end of the day.

Sir Nick Williams, CEO of Future Schools Trust, which runs the school said: "Student safety is at the heart of the Future Schools Trust and we work closely with parents and Kent Police to ensure this is upheld."

Police confirmed they are investigating reports of a man acting suspiciously in the area and inquiries are ongoing.

Last month, Maplesden Noakes and Maidstone Grammar School for Girls issued warnings after a number of similar incidents.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested after reports of indecent exposure on Buckland Hill, Maidstone, close to the two schools. He has been released on bail until Thursday, November 26. There are no suggestions the incidents are linked.
