IT’S A little over a month until clubbers will be able return to one of Maidstone's most popular night spots.
Three months since the closure of ikon in Lockmeadow, a £3 million refurbishment project is almost complete, and new clubs Liquid and Envy are set to open on Friday November 2.
While the new-look clubs are expected to draw increasing numbers of revellers, the change is also set to generate a further 60 jobs.
Among the changes clubbers can expect at the 1800 capacity venue are futuristic pods and a 360 degree light projector.
Changes have also been made to accommodate smokers under the new smoking laws, with a new balcony offering an outside area with a view of Barker Road and Maidstone Crown Court.
General Manager Julian Holyoake said: “We are very excited about it; it’s pandemonium at the moment but we will be ready.
“It will attract a lot more people because it’s a fantastic design; we’ve already been flooded with tickets requests for the VIP opening night.”
The refurbishment, which comes 10 years after the club was built, is in line with changes made to other clubs across the country owned by Luminar Leisure.
The clubs will open four nights a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
