A teenager has been hit by a car in a town centre.

Motorists are advised to avoid the north-bound one-way system through Maidstone tonight.

It comes after the pedestrian was hit on the A229, between the junction of the B2010 College Road and the A249 Knightrider Street.

There are long delays as the road is partially blocked by emergency vehicles.

The accident happened at 6pm.

The victim was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but it is not thought that he was seriously injured.
