Man hit by car outside Knoxbridge Cafe in Cranbrook Road, Frittenden

An air ambulance was called after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The man in his 30s was struck by the vehicle outside the Knoxbridge Cafe in Cranbrook Road, Frittenden, near Staplehurst at around 2pm.

Paramedics were called and the air ambulance landed in a barley field behind the cafe.

Members of the public helped shut off the road and controlled traffic, before police arrived and put an official closure in place.

The injured man was taken to Pembury Hospital in a road ambulance with injuries described as serious.

It is understood his partner was with at the time of the accident at about 1.15pm on Friday.

Cranbrook Road was reopened at about 3.45pm.
