Controversial former MP Ann Widdecombe will join an all-female line-up heading into the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight.

The ex-Tory politician joins Rachel Johnson, sister to foreign secretary Boris Johnson, as the only names revealed ahead of a special hour-and-a-half launch episode at 9pm.

Since her time as MP for Maidstone and The Weald came to an end in 2010, the Brexiteer has made television appearances including a stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 70-year-old came sixth in the competition with dancing partner Anton Du Beke.

Last year she appeared on Sugar Free Farm, where she clashed with The Only Way is Essex star Gemma Collins.

Her political years representing Maidstone and the Weald between 1987 and 2010 have gained her controversy, after supporting the re-introduction of the death penality, opposing the legality of abortion and voting against an equal age of consent for members of the LGBT community.

This year the CBB house will start off with only women in the house, with Channel 5 making the change to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women over 30 gaining the right to vote.

Mrs Widdecombe was replaced as MP for Maidstone and The Weald by Helen Grant at the 2010 election.
