Lanes closed as Maidstone Bridges roadworks sees more resurfacing

Long queues have again built up in Maidstone tonight as resurfacing work sees large swathes of the gyratory closed.

Lane closures have been put in place after 7pm tonight, and are set to last until 5am.

Earlier this week resurfacing began at St Peter's Street, but its understood it will be taking place over the entire bridge system and along Bishop's Way. This is set to last several days.

Lane closures are expected to be put in place during the day next week - a move which could bring more gridlock to the town.

Traffic is queuing up Tonbridge Road, and Rocky Hill back down towards the roadworks

Tonight cars heading from Bishop's Way wanting to cross the bridge towards Fairmeadow (the A229) are having to inch up Tonbridge Road, Rocky Hill and back down the A20 London Road to reach the bridge.
