A severely autistic Maidstone man died in a care home after having a huge epileptic fit, brain tests have revealed.

Elric Eiffert drowned in the bath at Sidcup’s Loring Hall in April, but the 34-year-old’s family, of Upper Fant Road, were not told about his death for 17 days.

They had to wait until July to bury him and collect his belongings.

A date for a full inquest is still to be set.

Mr Eiffert was unattended at the time of his death, despite needing round-the-clock supervision.

The Metropolitan Police is continuing to investigate Mr Eiffert’s death with Bexley Social Services and the Care Quality Commission – which recently rated Loring Hall as requiring improvement and flagged up particular concerns surrounding the treatment of epilepsy.
