A MAN in his 20s had his skull fractured by three men who beat him senseless with baseball bats. He is in Maidstone Hospital with serious head injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses to the vicious assault which took place at the junction eight services on the M20 at Hollingbourne.

The man, who is expected to make a full recovery despite the severity of his injuries, has not been named. A police spokeswoman said there was as yet no clear reason as to why the attack took place.

The first offender was a white man, mid to late 20s, with short brown hair, stocky build, over six feet tall and was wearing jeans and a buttoned t-shirt. The second offender was a white man, mid 30s, with greyish hair. He was wearing jeans and a white t-shirt. The third offender was a white man, but little else is known about him.

Police are particularly keen to speak to a woman who was at the M20 services when the assault occurred on last Saturday morning. She was white, early to mid 30s, had shoulder length blonde hair and was wearing dark coloured clothes and driving a dark coloured Frontera.

Detectives believe delivery drivers at the scene or other customers using the services that morning may have also witnessed the attack.

Anyone with any information can contact Det Sgt Sue Austin on 01622 608182 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111. The call is free and could earn you a reward.
