A 10-year-old boy is recovering in hospital from serious injuries he suffered in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle.

The schoolboy was taken to Maidstone Hospital with injuries to his head and legs after the incident in Old Tovil Road, Maidstone, at about 4.45pm last Friday.

A red and white articulated Leyland DAF lorry, towing a double length trailer unit, was in collision with the boy in Old Tovil Road, at its junction with Eccleston Road and Courtenay Road.

Police, who are appealing for witnesses, say the vehicle was travelling from East Farleigh to Maidstone. Old Tovil Road was closed after the accident and diversions set up. The road remained closed until 9.30pm.
