The unexpected closure of a Maidstone bridal-wear shop has caused panic among customers.

Renaissance Couture, in Bank Street, closed at the end of September, leaving some customers wondering if they will receive items already ordered from the shop.

The company's website has been closed down and its advertised phone number no longer receives incoming calls.

No information about the closure has been displayed on the shop front.

One customer said they had been told they could pick up a wedding dress ordered in January, after Sunday September 27, but had then received a letter on Friday September 25 saying the business had ceased trading.

She said: "It's disgusting."
