British Transport Police car crashes on Tonbridge Road, Maidstone

Two British Transport Police officers have been taken to hospital after their vehicle collided with another car in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone.

The force's Vauxhall Astra crashed with a Ford Focus at 3.10pm today, near the junction with Cherry Orchard way.

The road is not closed and no serious injuries have been reported.

A BTP spokesman said: "BTP can confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in a road traffic collision this afternoon.

"Two officers were en route to an emergency call when they collided with another vehicle.

"Both officers inside the vehicle received minor injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment."

An spokesman for the ambulance service said two vehicles were sent and although no serious injuries were reported, one ambulance was still at the scene at 4.40pm while paramedics assessed potential casualties.

The BTP spokesman said an investigation into the circumstances of the incident will be carried out by Kent Police.
