Crews tackle fires in Paddock Wood, Folkestone and Maidstone

Firefighters were busy overnight following another hot day in Kent.

First, crews were called to a shed alight in Beltring Road, Paddock Wood shortly before 6.50pm.

Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended with crews extinguishing the flames at 10.20pm.

No injuries were reported and the cause remains unknown.

Reports of a fire which had spread to three sheds were made at 7.01pm.

Crews attended Cornwall Close in Maidstone and extinguished the blaze within an hour.

No injuries were reported, and the cause is not yet known.

Crews also spent nearly 40 minutes putting out a blaze after a car caught alight on the M20 this morning (July 21).

The incident happened shortly after 5.50am between Junction 11A and Juntion 11 near Folkestone.

Two fire engines were required before crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames at 6.30am.

No injuries were reported and the cause also remains unknown.

Yesterday also saw a BBQ becoming engulfed in flames at 4am.

The fires happened after the UK declared its hottest day of the year on Friday, with temperatures hitting 30C across Kent.
