Initial attempts to sell the flat last October proved unsuccessful and the 35-year-old accountant hit on this novel way to beat the slump in the property market and attract interest.

She said: “We thought it would be an incentive.”

Estate agent manager John Wheatland , of Haart Estate Agents in King Street, said of the deal: “It’s the first time in 20 years I’ve had to do something like this.”

The two-bedroom apartment in the centre of Maidstone, is available for £160,000 leasehold.
