A woman has been flown to King's College Hospital with head injuries following a four-car pile-up.

The collision, which involved three cars and a van, has closed part of the Tonbridge Road in both directions.

It happened near Barham Court shortly before midday. Two other people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road reopened at around 2.20pm.

Alan Jackson, who works at The Bull Inn, said: "I don't know what exactly has gone on but it has caused quite a delay. There were buses turning around because of it."

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance sent both of its helicopters but one was called back while en-route.

Kent Highways has warned drivers to approach with caution and use another route if possible.
