Delays for Maidstone commuters after car bursts into flames in Sheal's Crescent

This is the moment a car became a fireball in Maidstone town centre this morning.

The vehicle burst into flames in Sheal's Crescent at shortly after 8.50am.

Firefighters battled the blaze, but the car was left a burnt-out wreck.

The fire, at the Postley Road junction, caused delays for motorists on the one-way system.

Kent Highways said a lane was closed and urged drivers to expect congestion throughout the morning.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews were at the scene for about 20 minutes.
