A car hit a bridge in Maidstone town centre.

Police were called at 11.30am today to a report that a vehicle had collided with a bridge in Broadway.

The fire brigade also attended.

No serious injuries were reported but a lane closure is in place to "ensure public safety", a police spokesman said.

Kent Highways are now in charge of the scene.
