There are just days left to nominate local charities to be recognised with a spot on the iconic Monopoly board.

Suggestions are being sought by the firm behind a special Maidstone edition of the popular trading game which is due to hit the shelves by the end of the year.

Four local good causes will be featured in the new version of the classic board game, appearing on the community chest and chance squares of the famous board.

When it was announced last month that the County Town would be honoured with its own version of the family favourite more than 5,000 suggestions for landmarks to feature poured in.

At the pricier end of the property market, Leeds Castle, Mote Park and the Archbishop's Palace are all said to be in the running for the coveted spots usually occupied by Mayfair and Park Lane.

"It's our way of thanking the public for getting behind the game so enthusiastically," said Ella Gibbs, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the game.

"The response to the game has been fantastic and way beyond all our expectations.

"We would like to formally thank each and every person who has sent in nominations and as our way of a thank you, four Maidstone charities will now get to star prominently in the game."

To qualify the nominated charities must be Maidstone focused and currently registered with the Charity Commission.

Votes must be cast by 11.59pm on Wednesday, April 21, and can be cast either by email to maidstone@winningmoves.co.uk or via the official Maidstone Monopoly Facebook page.

Winning Moves - who are producing the new edition under license from games firm Hasbro - expect the Maidstone edition to be hitting the shops in October, just in time for Christmas.
