Chimney fire prompts safety warning

Firefighters are urging people to make sure their chimneys are swept, after a fire in a Goudhurst home.
Crews were called to Winchet Hill just after 8.10pm last night (Sunday), and spent half an hour putting out the blaze, which was contained in the chimney breast.
It is thought to have been caused by a build up of soot.
Now firefighters are warning residents to make sure their chimneys are safe before using them, as temperatures drop.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: "Before you use your chimney, it is essential to make sure it is swept. Whatever fuel you burn it is important that the chimney is kept clean and that you do not allow soot or ash to build up."
