Ongoing roadworks mean one lane remains closed on the Maidstone-bound stretch of the A249 in Detling.

A lane was closed yesterday due to a collapsed manhole cover and emergency repair works have not yet been completed.

The hazard first came to light last Friday, which forced Kent Highways to close the entire Maidstone-bound carriageway between Scragged Oak Lane and Pilgrims Way.

One of the lanes opened the following morning and both were expected to resume normal service from Monday morning.

Repair works were then put on hold due to the sinkhole found on the M2 and both lanes reopened on Tuesday before problems struck once again on Thursday.
