Maidstone Borough Council launches Maidstone Cares appeal to raise £10,000 for most in need

A council is hoping to raise £10,000 for the most in need during the pandemic.

Maidstone Borough Council has launched a crowdfunding appeal, Maidstone Cares, which will support local charities helping those most affected by the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The aim is to raise £10,000 and the council is asking everyone who can help to donate now.

The charities involved in the campaign include:

Council leader Martin Cox said: "Since the coronavirus outbreak we have seen so many people across the borough come forward to help - working together to support the most vulnerable people in our communities which is quite overwhelming.

"Maidstone Cares is a crowdfunding appeal to help those most in need during this challenging time. We are asking for all those who can to help by donating some money to provide that additional support to these great organisations.

"We would like to thank everyone who can donate. Your support and generosity are crucial now more than ever, please help us help them."

The council's Maidstone Community Hub, has also been busy, with staff working hard to ensure vulnerable people have all the food and essentials they need. Hundreds of food parcels have been delivered already.
