It’s messy. It’s manic. It’s... potentially the most fun you’ll have on a Saturday afternoon.

The World Custard Pie Championship is set to return to Coxheath on June 3, and this year is a very special anniversary.

The event has been held at the Stockett Lane village hall for 50 years, and attracts people from all over the world.

Registration is now open for this year’s event, with people vying to be this year’s champions.

Teams of four are asked to dress in either Victorian costume or ‘with-it’ gear of the 21st century, with a prize being awarded to the best dressed team.

Though it has got bigger and bigger every year, the rules remain the same.

Teams will receive six points if they hit an opponent directly in the face, three points for a near miss, and one point for any other part of the body.

Pies are thrown from more than eight feet away, and pies need to be smaller than 10 inches in diameter.

The entry fee for this first come, first served event is £40 per team. To register, go to the website.
