A woman has been taken to hospital following an accident which blocked a major route.

A lorry and a car collided near Scragged Oak Road on the A249 Detling Hill at Maidstone.

Emergency services attended and a woman in her 50s was taken to hospital.

Police were called just after 6.10am to the accident on the Maidstone-bound carriageway.

One lane was closed, causing long delays, but the road has now reopened and traffic in the area is back to normal.
