Disco incentive for litter sweep youngsters

THE local neighbourhood policing unit co-ordinator for the Shepway and Parkwood area of Maidstone has organised a community litter sweep day for young people.
The event will be followed by a disco as a way of thanking the youngsters for their help.
PC Phil Smith has organised the event for Tuesday, October 25 (half term week) between 2pm and 4pm, and would like 55 youngsters agedd between 10-16 in each location to take part.
The locations for the sweep will be Cumberland Green in Shepway and the Recreation Ground in Parkwood.
After the sweep, a BBQ and disco will be held for all the youngsters who ttake part. It will be held at the Manor Youth Club in Shepway from 5.30pm-8pm. All the children who take part in the sweep will be given vouchers at the end of the day to attend the BBQ and disco.
The initiative is being supported by supermarket chain Morrisons and also by Kent County Council youth team.
Any young people who would like to be involved is asked to contact PC Phil Smith on 01622 608001, as soon as possible. All those who take part should from the two estates.
It is not possible for youngsters to turn up ad hoc on the day. All those wanting to take part must phone the number above and leave their details (name, age, address and contact number).
