A disqualified driver who was found with cocaine in his car while driving uninsured has been banned from driving.

Billy Aaron Smith, who is currently in prison for another matter, was stopped by police near the Running Horse Roundabout in Maidstone on September 10, 2019, after they saw him driving "in the middle of two lanes".

Officers searched the car and found eight wraps of cocaine in the vehicle.

Smith, who was living in Old Road, East Peckham, Tonbridge at the time, was arrested and later charged with driving while disqualified and uninsured, as well as possessing cocaine.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court via video link on Tuesday, where the court heard he told police he "didn't know" he was disqualified.

The 39-year-old was also facing two more charges of driving while disqualified and uninsured after he was stopped by police in Sevenoaks on November 11, 2019.

Smith pleaded guilty to all offences and was given a four-week jail term for each driving offence to run concurrently with his current sentence, which saw him jailed for three years in December 2020.

He was also handed a 15-month ban from driving and told to pay a £122 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs.
