Two elderly men were the victims of attempted distraction burglaries in the Maidstone area.

The first incident happened in Penenden Heath, on Wednesday August 1.

Two men called at the man's house at about 5.50pm and persuaded him to let them in. Luckily, there were disturbed by a concerned neighbour and left empty handed.

A similar situation happened to a pensioner in Harrietsham.

The suspects entered the house but did not take anything. A police spokesman said the men seemed concerened by the homeowner's dog.

One of the suspects is 5'8, with dark brown cropped hair and stubble.

He was wearing a v neck style jumper with a blue shirt undearneath, black trousers and shoes.

The second man is 5'5, with short blonde hair, clean shaven. He was wearing a blue and white striped shirt, grey trousers and black shoes.

Both men are believed to be between 35 and 40 years old.

It is thought they travelled around the town in a white car.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously at the time, or who were approached by the men.

Det Con Lisa Edgington said: “In both cases the suspects have targeted elderly men and I would ask local residents to be vigilant of similar incidents.

"People such as this look to take advantage of vulnerable people and we are working hard to trace these men.

"If residents experience cold-callers and have any concerns we recommend that they don’t answer the door, and if you think you have a bogus caller at the door to call police on 999.”
