Skoda overturns in Lenham Road, Platts Heath, and driver flees

A country lane was blocked in both directions after a car overturned and the driver fled.

Emergency services were called at 2.50pm yesterday (January 21) following a two-vehicle crash in Lenham Road, Platts Heath.

As a result, the road was blocked in both directions and motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.

One fire engine attended and crews worked to clean a diesel leak which had spilled from one of the vehicles.

They confirmed there were no reported injuries.

The driver of the Skoda fled the scene on foot and a police helicopter helped officers on the ground with a search.

A man was detained on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis and failing to stop after a collision.

Two other people in the car were also arrested in connection with the incident.

All three remain in custody.
