Land Rover driver who fled crash scene in Fairmeadow, Maidstone identified

A driver who fled the scene of a crash which put one person in hospital has been found.

Police were called out to Fairmeadow at around 5.30am on Saturday morning after a crash between a Land Rover and an Audi.

Following the crash, which levelled a traffic light, the Land Rover driver left the scene on foot.

The Audi driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, while two lanes of the southbound carriageway were shut for repairs.

Kent Police issued the following statement this morning: "A man suspected to have been the driver of the Land Rover has now been identified and is assisting the investigation.

Traffic lights have been knocked into the road in Fairmeadow (8529246)

"The road was fully reopened at 9.53am."

Kent County Council Highways said: "The traffic signals that were damaged have been made safe, with further repairs required at a later date."

There have been no arrests at this stage.
