An aggressive drunk bit and damaged a pair of handcuffs while in police custody.
Harry Batty, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court yesterday (August 11) following an alcohol fuelled argument at the town’s Wonderland night club, in Barker Road.
The 19-year-old was thrown out of the venue after he got into a fight on Friday, July 25.
Magistrates heard he had drank six vodka red bulls, six Jägerbombs and two bottles of Bulmers cider before he was removed from the venue.
Once ejected he hurled abuse at door staff for 30 minutes because he felt it was unfair the other brawler had not been kicked out.
Batty, of Malling Road in Snodland, refused to leave the area, despite being instructed to by the police, and allegedly waved a constable’s pen in the air when he was asked to sign a notice instructing him to leave.
He then resisted arrest and went on to bite the handcuff’s plastic casing, causing £100 damage.
Representing himself, Batty denied waving the pen in the air, but pleaded guilty to criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly.
He said he drank so much because it was a friend’s birthday.
Batty was fined £70 for criminal damage and £35 for being drunk and disorderly.
He must also pay £100 compensation to Kent Police, £85 in legal costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
