Part of a main road has been forced to shut for emergency gas works.
The A229 Loose Road in Maidstone is closed to drivers heading out of the town centre.
The southbound road, by The Wheatsheaf pub junction, was shut last Friday for SGN utility repair and maintenance works.
Motorists are currently using Old Tovil Road, Straw Mill Hill, Cave Hill, Hayle Mill Road, Teasaucer Hill and Cripple Street as a diversion route.
Some have spoken of their frustration of the closure on social media.
One resident said: “I have lodged a formal complaint to KCC. Easy to do online.
“Plus an extra complaint today for non-working. The noise we make might have an impact!”
Another added: “Teasaucer Hill and accompanying lanes are a nightmare.
“Lots of speeding cars and cars not sure of their width! Be safe out there!”
A number of residents have reported some motorists were moving cones and then driving around.
However, a larger barrier has now been added to prevent access.
Routes for the number 5 and 89 buses are also being diverted.
Arriva tweeted: “Due to a partial road closure at The Wheatsheaf, our outbound services are diverted.
“Services WILL NOT stop after The Wheatsheaf until Linton Crossroads.
“For Loose Road stops, use 89 and alight on return trip.”
According to one.network, the road is expected to reopen on Wednesday.
SGN has been contacted for a comment.
