Police and ambulance at Knightrider Street, Maidstone

A road was blocked off after an elderly pedestrian was hit by a car in Maidstone.

The accident happened in Knightrider Street, close to the junction with College Road.

A man, thought to be 70 years old, has been taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

Police and paramedics are at the scene in Knightrider Street

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called to Knightrider Street at 10.25am to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

"The pedestrian, a man aged approximately 70, suffered injuries which are not thought to be life threatening."

Police have been approached for more information.
