Police and ambulance crews called to Maidstone Town Hall in King Street over concerns for a man's welfare

A man in his 70s died at Maidstone Town Hall after being taken ill.

Ambulance crews were dispatched to King Street just before 12.45pm after the man, a visitor to Voluntary Action Maidstone, collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest.

A private ambulance arrived just after 2pm.

Police were also called to assist the paramedics.

Nobody is being allowed inside the building and staff could be seen waiting outside.

The man's next of kin have been informed.
