A vet from Kent silenced Nigel Farage on his radio show in an EU debate.
Daniella Dos Santos, who practices in Maidstone, has become a social media sensation after her calm debate with the former Ukip leader on his LBC programme.
Daniella, who describes herself as an "exotics and small vet", tweeted “Holy moly, I’ve gone viral” after a clip of her making a point which left Mr Farage speechless was retweeted 2,100 times and liked nearly 7,000 times.
In a debate on his weekly radio show on Sunday, the leading Brexit campaigner, was stunned into silence as Daniella gave him some facts about her industry.
After explaining the shortage in vets due to Brexit, she went on to give examples of why it’s such a problem.
She said: “Say we’re organising a trade deal with an Asian country and that country stipulates that before an animal product leaves that country it needs veterinary certification, there’s not much we can do about that.
“As it currently stands we don’t have enough vets to certify for exports. But that’s not primarily why I rang in, I rang in to point out it’s not scaremongering, it’s probably the wrong language being used but it's true.”
Her point was followed by five seconds of radio silence, prompting her to say ‘hello?’
Mr Farage, who ran to become the MP for South Thanet in the 2015 election, blundered for a moment and then swiftly moved on to discuss live exports and cheaper food before ending the call.
Twitter users have branded Daniella a "hero" with some simply tweeting her to say thank you.
@reeedam1980 said: “She won with simple debate and arguments no hysterics necessary.”
The British Veterinary Association tweeted: “Thanks to our member @VetDannii for highlighting the profession's very real concerns about workforce & #animalwelfare post #Brexit! We've been working to tackle these issues over the past year- take a look at our progress report.”
