A man found on fire at Mote Park in Maidstone has died in hospital, police said today.
The 30-year-old suffered "extremely serious" burns in the horrific ordeal on Wednesday afternoon.
He was taken to a specialist unit at London's King's College Hospital, where he later died.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 4.30pm after a call from a distraught witness saying a man was in flames.
Firefighters, police, paramedics, and the Kent Air Ambulance arrived on grassland to treat the victim at the scene.
He was then taken to hospital by road, with a South East Coast Ambulance Service saying he was in a "extremely serious condition".
Kent Police today confirmed the man died the following day.
The man's identity has not yet been released, but his first name is believed to be James.
It is not yet clear how the man came to be on fire, but a Kent Police spokesman said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Earlier, witnesses told how horrified passers-by battled to save the man - including two women who grabbed jugs of water from a cafe.
