The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts covering three parts of Kent.

This morning a warning was issued for the Lower River Medway, from Hampstead Lock at Yalding to Allington Lock, including East Farleigh, Wateringbury, Teston and Teston Park, Tovil and Maidstone including Millennium Park.

It comes in addition to a flood alert issued yesterday for the the Upper Medway from Forest Row to Penshurst, including Ashurst.

Those in the area are advised to avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding, and to "start acting on your flood plan if you have one".

There is also an alert in place for the River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal - which includes Tenterden.

The agency says its Flood Warning System has issued the alert based on rising river or tidal levels, but also states its messages are temporarily automated due to industrial action.

Meanwhile there are delays on cross-Channel ferry services due to adverse weather conditions.

Operators DFDS say services between Dover and Dunkerque are being delayed for up to two hours due to adverse weather conditions.

The company asks passengers are to check-in as normal and says they will be offered the next available departure.
