Flooding stops trains between Maidstone West and Maidstone Barracks

Trains have stopped running and roads have been affected by fallen trees after flooding.

Rail services are cancelled between Maidstone West and Maidstone Barracks stations.

Southeastern rail has closed between the two destinations for safety reasons, meaning a full service between Paddock Wood and Strood is not running.

The operator is in the process of arranging an hourly shuttle train service will run between Paddock Wood and Maidstone West and buses between Maidstone West and Strood.

Elswhere, trains between Charing and Ashford International are running with with a 20mph speed restriction in both directions following flooding.

Southeastern are warning that the low speed will cause delays and the possibility of short notice alterations or cancellations.

A replacement bus service is also being arranged to run between Swanley, Maidstone East, and Ashford International.

Meanwhile, fallen trees and flooding have caused chaos on the roads.
