Police have arrested four men in connection with an assault causing grievous bodily harm.

Officers were called to Maidstone High Street at 3.10am and paramedics took a man to hospital suffering from head injuries.

They were not described as life threatening.

The scene of the alleged attack at Remembrance Square near the cannon in the lower High Street was cordoned off this morning while forensic evidence was gathered, but the cordon has now been removed.

There is still evidence of blood stains on the pavement.

The arrested men remain in police custody.
