Three Maidstone bingo players are celebrating today after winning a combined total of more than £40,000 - after spending just £1 each on tickets.

The lucky trio were all playing at Gala Bingo in Maidstone's Gabriel's Hill at the weekend when they won big.

Mary Fuller was the biggest winner, scooping a whopping £20,000 on the Maidstone Special, which is played twice a day, every day, for £1 a ticket.

A Gala spokesman said today: "Mary is a popular customer and has been a regular player for a number of years. The whole club was delighted for her."

The next winner was Andy Tozer, who took home almost £18,000 after winning the National Live game, which involves bingo clubs across the UK linking up and playing together.

Mr Tozer also only spent £1 on his ticket.

Finally, a third person, who the company has not yet named, won just short of £3,000 on full house game Party Extra.

The spokesman added: "Customers and staff were delighted for all our winners. Gala Maidstone was definitely the luckiest club this weekend."
