TEENAGE girls have been going door-to-door conning money out of residents for out-of-date charity raffle tickets.

It is the second example of young con-artists pocketing cash for supposed good causes in and around Maidstone in the last month.

In the most recent case, police were called in after two girls went door-to-door selling tickets for a Royal National Institute for the Blind raffle which actually took place in September last year.

One angry pensioner, who asked not to be named, said that the girls called at his home in the village of Eccles one evening. He said: "They said they were collecting for the blind. I didn't actually give them any money because I'm a pensioner. I'd like to give money to the blind and other things but I just can't afford to.

"One of my neighbours did buy one, though, and apparently a couple down the road gave them £5 each. But when you look more closely at the ticket you realise that they've altered the 2002 so that it looks like 2003. It's a disgusting thing to do."
