Free vegetarian stalls are being set up around the town this weekend for National Vegetarian Week.
On Saturday, May 21, stalls with veggie goods are being erected in the Royal Star Arcade from 11am to 4pm and at the Lockmeadow food hall on Sunday, May 22, from midday to 4pm.
The events, set up by Maidstone Borough Council and the Vegetarian Society, will offer visitors the taste what's on offer, talk to people from the Vegetarian Society and consider cutting down on their meat consumption.
Maidstone council's biodiversity and climate change manager James Wilderspin said: “Eating veggie is one of the simplest things we can all do to reduce our own carbon footprints, even just one veggie day a week makes a difference.
"Vegetarian week is a great opportunity to try something new, set yourself a new challenge, save money, and make your lifestyle greener and healthier."
Alexa Kersting-Woods, leisure property manager is thrilled that Love Food at Lockmeadow will be taking part.
She said: “As our new food court is proving so popular all stalls will be taking part in this vegetarian day and providing samples so customers can come along and try out a variety of different tasty food alternatives.”
