Part of a hospital was closed off after torrential rain caused the site to flood.

The main entrance and exit by the A&E department in Maidstone was off-limits after a huge amount of rainfall this afternoon.

The grounds of the hospital, in Hermitage Lane, Barming, were submerged at about 1.30pm.

Footage can be seen of cars struggling to access the site’s car park due to the amount of water.

Mel Simmons, who recorded the flooding on her way to an appointment, said: “The main entrance and exit by A&E had to be closed and we were sent around the back of the hospital to another flooded area.
