Damage caused to house in Marsham Street Maidstone after moped set alight in arson attack

A house has suffered smoke and fire damage after arsonists set alight a moped at the front of the property.

Police and fire crews were called to Marsham Street, Maidstone at about 3.45am this morning where they found the bike well alight.

The flames scorched the front of the property on the corner of Wyatt Street.

A spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called at 3.46am on Sunday following a report of a moped on fire.

"It is thought the ignition was suspicious and the incident is being treated as arson."
