A British supermodel known as the “original gap-toothed girl” died from cirrhosis of the liver and internal bleeding while in Greece, it has been revealed.
Georgina Cooper, who grew up in South London but had since moved to Kent, was reportedly on holiday on the island of Kos when she passed away last month.
It is understood the 46-year-old had settled down in Bearsted, near Maidstone, with her family and husband Nigel, and worked in the village.
The pair married earlier this year, with the reception held at the Fox and Goose in Weavering. They later had their honeymoon in Kos.
According to the MailOnline, the mum-of-one was staying at a hotel in Kos when she was taken ill on Monday, October 21 and was rushed to a local hospital.
It is reported she was then airlifted to a facility in Heraklion, on the island of Crete, where she died five days later in intensive care.
Her cause of death has been reported as cirrhosis of the liver and internal bleeding after her organs failed.
The 90s supermodel’s funeral service is expected to be held next Wednesday at Vinters Park Crematorium, in Maidstone.
After her death, dozens of tributes flooded in online from people within the fashion industry.
Jade Parfitt, a British model and presenter, said: “Devastated to share the news of George’s passing. One of the funniest and naughtiest, never mind most beautiful friends, we all wanted to hang out with George backstage.
“Sending so much love to her son, family and friends. Gone too soon.”
In a message on Instagram, her former agent Dean Goodman shared pictures of Georgina in her heyday and said he was “absolutely devastated”.
He added: “I am in total shock and talked to her not long ago to meet up after she just got married. She was the original gap-toothed girl.
“I will miss her immensely, rest in peace, Georgie girl, I will never forget you and always love you, see you on the other side.”
Georgina first got into modelling at age 13, when her mum entered her in the Elite Look of The Year contest in 1992 and she came third.
After appearing in a Bon Jovi music video at age 15, she shot to fame in the 1990s, featuring on runway shows and appearing on iconic magazine covers.
