A roofer who died after falling from a ladder had been working on a friend's property at the time, an inquest has heard.
Grant Maloney, 55, from Yalding sustained serious head injuries after the incident in Orient Court, Kings Hill on January 21 and was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in London.
He was placed on a life support machine which was switched off after doctors realised there was nothing more they could do for the dad-of-seven and grandfather-of-two.
He died surrounded by loved ones who had rushed to his bedside.
During a hearing at County Hall in Maidstone today, coroner Joanne Andrews adjourned the inquest to a full hearing on Tuesday, May 4 at 2pm.
His daughter Jade Maloney, 28, previously described how “family meant everything" to her father who was born in Dundee and grew up in Dulwich.
He moved to Lyngs Close in Yalding in 2018, after many years in New Eltham, in south London.
The dad, who had been a roofer since he was 16, could also be regularly seen walking around Yalding with his two dogs and often sent his family snaps from early morning canoe rides down the river.
When the coronavirus restrictions are over the family plans on meeting at a pub in Dulwich which was run by Mr Maloney to celebrate his life.
The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident and inquiries are currently ongoing.
