A formal evening at the Ramada Hotel and Resort, Hollingbourne, was the chosen way for Year 13 students at Invicta Grammar School, Maidstone, to say farewell last Thursday.

A three-course meal followed by entertainment from singer James Barlow added to the ambience of the occasion.

More than 100 students and their partners together with 12 teachers from the school in Huntsman Lane, Maidstone, put on their glad rags for the occasion.

This was the last fund-raising event for the school's student council whose members raised more than £7,000 during the past year.

The money will be distributed evenly between six chosen charities including the Kent Air Ambulance and Romania Connect. Other fund-raising events have included a fashion show and dance show in with local businesses.

The ball was thoroughly enjoyed by all and was the perfect way to end seven years of education at the school.

Amie Mercer, who organised the event, ensured it was a huge success and would remain in the memory of the students for a long time to come.

Everyone was wished the best of luck with their exams and in the future.

All in all it was a fantastic farewell to a significant era of all our lives.
