It is finally here! Today is the day the Kent County Show launches for its 90th year.

Whether it is live music or livestock you are excited to see, this year event is sure to have something for all the family to enjoy.

We will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest videos and pictures from the show throughout the day

The three-day long show will be packed with animal displays, woodland activities, vintage vehicles and a variety of food halls.

This year's highlight is a performance from a world champion cossack, The International Dzhigitovka Show.

The group will bring thrills and spills - all on horseback - in the main arena at the Kent Showground, near Maidstone, from today until Sunday, July 7.

The British Dzhigitovka Team will be joined by current world champion Sergey Murugov and other national champions, to showcase their world class military and gymnastic skills, with flaming jumps, horseback archery, and human pyramids.

Morris dancers have also been performing across different areas of the grounds throughout the day.

Mike Purton from Kits Coty Morris group said: "It's been a brilliant day, the weather has been lovely and the show is always good, every year.

"There have been a lot of people and we are performing three 30 minute dances today."

There will also be a range of different activities for children to enjoy, including free pony rides, Punch and Judy shows and bouncy castles.

Live music was performed in the bandstand across the day. Crowds gathered to see The FB Pocket Orchestra play their folk sounding tunes.

The Duke of Kent, Prince Edward also made an appearance at the event and specifically requested the Spitfire display.
Visitors watched in awe as the historic plane flew through the sky whilst performing different manoeuvres.

There’s a high flying theme at this year’s KM Media Group stand number 288 which is next to the cherry and soft fruit show stand, as we are teaming up with the air ambulance.

The kmfm Street Team will be hosting a variety of arts and crafts for youngsters on the stand which is near to the Astor Ring to take part in with a helicopter theme, in keeping with the vital lifesaving work the ambulance charity does.

Pop by and pick up your KM Group paper and get a free goody bag filled with lots of wonderful stuff for you to take home after your day.

You can also cut out the voucher printed in your What’s On this week and take it along with you.

If you get there quick you could be one of the lucky ones who gets a free helicopter toy - but only as long as stocks last.

KMTV and kmfm will also be reporting from the grounds so be sure to keep an eye out.

Throughout the day there were also different animal displays including a sheep show and a dog and duck performance.

Stuart Barnes was in charge of both performances.

He said: "Its been a lovely day, it is really hot but luckily the wind is saving us.

"I have done two shows so far and all the seats were full. We feature nine different breeds of sheep in one show we include a a sheep strip tease, where we have a female come out in her wool and we shear it off, its too show our audience what the process is we then put on some music and they do a little dance."

The annual event aims to bring together the best of the county and is organised by the Kent County Agricultural Society.

Gates open at 8am each day. Tickets cost £23 on the gate for adults, £7 for five to 15-year-olds and £50 for a family, with under fives going free.

Car parking is free.
