Kent Fire and Rescue Service called to 'suspicious' car fire in Bircholt Road, Maidstone

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene of a large bin fire in Maidstone last night, only to arrive and discover a car was alight.

One unit attended the scene in Bircholt Road, Park Wood, at 8.51pm to discover that what had been reported as a bin fire was actually a flaming black Ford Mondeo.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blazing vehicle and left the scene at 9.15pm.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: "Kent Police was called at 9.17pm following a report that a black Ford Mondeo had caught fire in Bircholt Road, Maidstone.

"Officers visited the owner of the vehicle and no further action will be taken."
