The Vinters Valley Nature Reserve has received a £500 donation from the Kent Police property fund.

The reserve covers 90 acres of land between the Vinters Park and Grove Green housing estates in Maidstone.

The money was raised through sales of items seized during police operations at auction.

Damage caused by the poor weather will be fixed thanks to the donation.

Vinters Valley provides a habitat for a variety of wildlife, and has proved popular with the public.

Superintendent Mat Newton, from the Tactical Operations department, said: "I am delighted we can help to support this wonderful nature location that is used by so many local residents and schools."

The money raised from the auctions is split between charities that provide a service to the people of Kent.
