A large sinkhole that opened up near a school has been repaired after three weeks.
The hole, in Hildenborough Crescent, Allington, which was about 8ft by 4ft and up to 3ft deep at first, was initially spotted by a resident on September 29.
The following day, South East Water closed the road to carry out repairs and it was originally expected to reopen during the first week of October.
The road was initially going to be closed until October 7.
But this was extended until October 11 for water mains and carriageway repairs.
Although all work was completed today, the barriers in the area won't be removed until next week.
Andy Beston, South East Water distribution manager, said: “Our team fixed a leak in Hildenborough Crescent, Allington on Friday, 30 September.
“The repair teams have completed the final reinstatement of the road today and we plan to remove the barriers early next week once the tarmac has fully set.
“Unfortunately, leaks and bursts like this do happen on our vast network of underground pipes, which spans more than 9,000 miles and we are very sorry for any disruption caused to motorists and residents.”
